Remind parents of ways to reduce sun exposure and include some helpful tips on applying sunscreen like these:
- Make it a Game: Turn sunscreen application into a fun activity. Sing a silly song, make funny faces, or let children "paint" themselves (with supervision, of course).
- Distraction is Key: Use a favorite toy, book, or even a screen (for a short time) to distract them while they apply the sunscreen.
- Apply it Naked: Instead of fighting to do sunscreen after a child is dressed and almost out the door, suggest to parents that they try doing it naked before getting them dressed. That makes parents less likely to miss a spot, allows for easier blending, and may be more comfortable for toddlers (and parents 😉).
