Support for Vaccine Hesitation

March 25, 2026

As vaccine debates swirl across social media, we know parents are confused about messages they hear and choices they need to make. To support providers, our friends at Zero to Three and HealthySteps have created this website for providers and a parent-facing handout with simple answers to some of parents' most common questions around vaccines. This is information you can share easily in visits.

As Senior Director of Programs, Rebecca Parlakian, reminds us - though vaccine hesitancy can be frustrating, it is a good sign when families are engaged in their child's health. Their questions show care and commitment.

When early childhood professionals talk with families about vaccines, focus on two things:

  • Validate concerns. It's natural for parents to ask questions about their child's health.
  • Acknowledge their role. Caring parents seek information to make the best decisions for their child.

From there, conversations and connection are possible.
