Sibling Conflict

Do parents ever ask you questions about sibling conflicts? See the video below for tips on addressing sibling issues.

Main points from the video:

  • Children ages 3-5 are usually able to understand other people’s feelings.
  • You can share strategies like stop, drop, and think, which means stop what you’re doing, drop your hands, and think about your response. This can give a child the pause they need to solve problems peacefully.
  • You can discuss with children the idea that we can’t always control what happens outside of us, but we can try to control how we respond.
  • Encourage parents to try not to take sides.
